Flight Instructor Training

The Flight Instructor Training program includes both theory and practical training. The theory portion of the course gives you a deepened understanding of educating within aviation, for example, the training methodology, training process, and instructing night flying. Much emphasis is placed on how and when to use your knowledge to teach students. The practical portion of the course focuses on lecturing for groups and individual flight instructing. Your flight instructor practical will include all the elements of the Private Pilot License training. You will also have the opportunity to sit in the right seat and roll play with your instructor, that is, hands-on training. EFTA’s FI course gives you the tools you need to be an effective flight instructor and further your goals.

Admission Requirements: You must meet one of the following two requirements below: Hold a valid Private Pilot License (PPL) Airplane (A) with at least 200 hours flight time of which 150 hours as pilot in command and have passed the Commercial Pilot License (CPL) theory exam.  Hold a valid CPL (A). Admissions Flight.  You must also have completed at least: 30 flight hours with single engine piston airplanes, of which five hours must be completed within six months preceding the entry flight test. 10 hours training in instrument flying. 20 hours cross-country flight, at least one flight of 300 nautical miles with two full stop landings at two different airports. Passed Admissions flight test.

Theory (5 days). The Learning Process. The Teaching Process. Training Philosophies. Techniques of Applied Instruction. Student Evaluation and Testing. Training Program Development. Human Performance and Limitations Relevant to Flight Instruction. Hazards involved in simulating systems failures and malfunctions in the airplane during flight. Night Flying Instruction. Training Administration.

Practical: 30 hours flight education. 1 hour flight skills testing.
